Frequently Asked Questions
What is RepoFinder?
RepoFinder is the largest nationwide directory of banks, credit unions, and public auctions that sell repossessed vehicles directly to the public.
What makes RepoFinder different?
- We ARE NOT a car dealership or auction house.
- We DO NOT collect a fee or commission if you buy a repo.
- We DO NOT sell repo vehicles ourselves. We show you where to find banks and credit unions selling repos near you.
- We DO NOT get involved in the transaction. You deal directly with the bank, credit union, or auction.
- We focus on repossessions that are available to the public.
- Most repo websites act as middlemen. RepoFinder is focused on helping buyers connect directly to the source.
- RepoFinder is built around one simple idea: direct-to-bank repo access.
How does RepoFinder work?
RepoFinder links buyers directly to banks, credit unions, and public sources that sell repossessions. You can use the map to locate a list of local banks and credit unions in your state. Clicking on a bank name takes you directly to that institution’s website, where repos are listed for sale.
You can also search for repos by vehicle type. RepoFinder Pro members can additionally search from the Featured Repo List.
For less than the cost of a cup of coffee, RepoFinder Pro gives you faster access and a cleaner, ad-free experience.
Do I need a dealer license to buy repossessions?
No. These repossessions are sold directly to the public. Each bank, credit union, or auction may use a different format for selling repossessions, and that process will usually be described on its own website. RepoFinder helps cut out dealers and middlemen so you can pursue the savings directly.
Will the bank offer financing?
Often, yes. Many banks and credit unions offer financing on repossessed vehicles, and some may offer favorable rates to help move inventory. In many cases, the lender will also assist with the bill of sale, title documents, and loan paperwork.
What kind of repossessions do banks sell?
Repossessed vehicles are the most common, including cars, trucks, RVs, motorcycles, and boats. Many lenders also sell bank-owned real estate and other assets.
Can I search for a specific vehicle by make or model?
Not across all banks at once. Banks do not use one uniform listing system, so the available search tools vary from one institution to another. Some larger banks with more inventory may offer make or model search options on their own websites.
What if I don’t see any repossessions for sale?
Inventory changes frequently. Some large banks may list many repos each month, while smaller banks may only have a few repossessions a year. Sometimes a lender will temporarily deactivate its repo page when no inventory is available. Keep checking back, because listings can change quickly and repos often sell fast.
RepoFinder does not track when a repossession has been sold. Buyers should always verify availability directly with the bank, credit union, or auction offering the item.
Where is RepoFinder located?
RepoFinder is a small business proudly based in the United States and has been operating since 2009.
